Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act

In 2023, the Government of Canada enacted the Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act (https://laws.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/F-10.6/) as part of Canada’s contribution to the International Labour Organization’s fight against modern slavery.

KEI is supportive of this initiative and has prepared the following reports under the terms of the Act: Fiscal Year 2023 Annual Report

Toxics Reduction Act

Toxic Reduction Plan Summary Phase II
Toxic Reduction Plan Summary Phase I

National Pollutant Release Inventory

NPRI is Canada’s legislated, publicly accessible inventory of pollutant releases (to air, water and land), disposals and transfers for recycling. NPRI falls under the authority of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA 1999).

Energy Improvements

Since 2009 KEI has been a CIPEC Leader, and have worked to improve energy usage throughout the facility through program initiatives such as facility re-lamping, procurement of energy efficient rated (EER) equipment, installation where possible of variable frequency drives (VFD’s). We have an embedded energy management team (EnMT) that monitors the procurement and use of commodities throughout the facility. The EnMT is an integral part of our Sustainability Team.

Certificates of Recognition

Due to continued sustainable efforts to preserve natural resources, KEI was recently recognized by the Region of Waterloo as a Water Efficient Certified Business.

We were also recently recognized by KW Hydro and saveONenergy for our energy efficiency efforts.
